EYE OF AN IMMIGRANT
Our Team
Rooted in the immigrant experience, our team — made up of immigrants and children of immigrants — is dedicated to telling our stories, providing resources, and dismantling the barriers before us

Komalpreet Kaur
Founder & Executive Director
Komal Kaur didn't just grow up hearing immigrant stories - she lived one. The daughter of Punjabi immigrants who fled genocide and rebuilt their lives from scratch, Komal was raised in the heart of Queens, New York, before landing in suburban Kansas. The culture shock was real, but so was her fire. At 16, she founded Eye of An Immigrant to turn silence into story telling and isolation into community.
Today, she's a political science student at the University of Kansas with a concentration in international relations, blending her lived experience with hands-on work in governement and politics. From city halls to campaign trails, Komal brings a bold, heart-led approach to everything she does. Whether she's behind the mic, supporting policy efforts, or helping fund someone's path to citizenship, she's here to make sure every immigrant story gets the spotlight it deserves.

Natasha Bush
Administrative & Development Coordinator
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, and raised in South Dakota after immigrating to the U.S. at the age of two, Natasha Bush has built a life rooted in resilience, adaptability, and purpose. From navigating the immigrant experience to excelling in diverse professional spaces, she brings a unique, multilayered perspective to every role she steps into.
She began her career as a behavioral technician in a crisis unit—an experience that deepened her empathy and honed her ability to create safe, welcoming spaces for others. That same spirit carried into her time at the Kansas City Current, where she played a vital role in the historic development of the first-ever purpose-built stadium for a women’s professional sports team.
A 2020 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, Natasha studied Human Services, played collegiate soccer, and was honored as the university’s Most Influential Woman of 2020.
A strong believer in the power of digital storytelling, Natasha is also passionate about connecting with others through social media. She sees platforms not just as tools for visibility, but as bridges for building community, elevating underrepresented voices, and creating meaningful conversations in real time.
She knows what it feels like to be the “only” in a room—and she has made it her mission to ensure others don’t have to feel the same. With warmth, understanding, and a deep commitment to both in-person and online community-building, she continues to champion spaces where every voice is heard and every person feels seen.

Zik Nwanganga
Director of Storytelling
Born in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria, and raised in rural Nigeria, Zik Nwanganga dreamed of life in America after watching movies like Home Alone and Spiderman. That dream became reality in 2016 when he moved to Kansas City to study Civil Engineering at the University of Missouri–Kansas City.
Arriving in the U.S. with no local support, Zik quickly learned the challenges immigrants face—from housing and employment to language barriers and isolation. He immersed himself in campus organizations to improve his English and build community, embracing a philosophy of “each one teach one.”
This journey led Zik to create platforms focused on storytelling, innovation, and inclusion. He launched the FiredUpKC podcast in 2019, which evolved into FiredUp Studios and later the Netflix-style talk show City Entrepreneur. Today, he serves as CEO of City Entrepreneur Foundation, using storytelling to amplify underrepresented voices in entrepreneurship.
Zik is also the CEO and Co-Founder of ULOM, an all-in-one platform helping immigrants, refugees, and international students navigate employment, English training, and community integration in the U.S.
